Cruise Cancellations: Crystal Symphony - Voyages From January To March 2022

As the entire travel industry continues to navigate the fluctuating travel restrictions of individual countries due to the global pandemic, our main goal at Crystal remains to provide our guests with a safe and enriching experience. Regretfully, due to the ongoing pandemic, we have made the difficult decision to cancel all Crystal Symphony voyages with departures from January to March 2022. 

All affected guests, and their travel advisers, are being contacted with details of this cancellation along with their compensation and rebooking options. We encourage all affected guests to contact their travel advisor to assist them in selecting the future voyage/s of their choice, and invite them to visit crystalcruises.com to review the voyage collections for each Crystal experience. 

As we adjust our voyage itineraries, schedules and onboard service due to the Covid-19 pandemic, Crystal developed Crystal Clean+, an enhanced level of measures that builds on our stringent protocols already in place to help safeguard the well-being of our guests and crew. Each protocol will be continually evaluated as new information becomes available.

Cruise Cancellations: Ocean and Yacht Voyages Through December 2020

Like all travel enthusiasts, we are eagerly anticipating the day we can return to sailing the world again and welcome our guests back aboard. Unfortunately, the constantly changing variables related to Covid-19, coupled with differing restrictions for international travel, continue to determine when and where this can happen. The uncertainty surrounding this global health crisis hinders the ability for all cruise lines to operate, and it is with deep regret that we have had to cancel all Ocean voyages (aboard Crystal Symphony and Crystal Serenity) and Yacht voyages (aboard Crystal Esprit) through the remainder of 2020. 

We extend our deepest apologies for this situation that is beyond our control and is a great frustration to all of us. Everyone at Crystal, along with the officers and crew of our ships fleetwide, are extremely disappointed that we were compelled to take this action as we were looking forward to exploring together.

What is certain is Crystal’s commitment to the safety and well-being of our guests and crew above all else. While we are looking forward to welcoming our valued guests back aboard again as soon as possible, we will not do so until it is deemed safe by governing health authorities.

We know this cancellation is extremely disappointing. In recognition of this, we are providing all affected guests with Credits* equal to 125% of the cruise fare paid on fully-paid reservations – along with a refund of port charges, taxes and fees paid, and any air and hotel packages booked through Crystal. For guests who have not fully paid, the credit will then be based on the deposited amount. Credits are valid on any Crystal experience (Ocean, River, Yacht or Expedition) embarking through December 31, 2023.

We encourage our guests to contact their travel advisor to assist them in selecting their ideal future Crystal cruise. Explore all cruise departures via our website's Find A Voyage page to review the 2021-2023 full-year voyage collections for each Crystal experience – all are available through 2022 as is our complete 2023 Ocean Collection. Our just-launched Crystal Confidence 2.0 provides the peace of mind our guests need now when making future travel plans.

While our fleet is paused, the Crystal team has been developing new procedures and policies that will support all public health and regulatory requirements and to ensure our guests’ vacations continue to be not only relaxing and pleasurable but safe and healthy. Building on our stringent protocols already in place, we recently launched Crystal Clean+® 2.0 – an enhanced level of measures to help safeguard the well-being of our guests and crew. Each protocol will be continually evaluated as new information becomes available.

*The 125% Credits option is comprised of two coupons: a 100% Future Cruise Payment (FCP) representing cruise fare paid, and a 25% Future Cruise Credit (FCC) bonus discount. Credit coupons may be used separately or combined on any non-fully paid, future booking. Credits may be used with Crystal’s 2-for-1 Fares and Book Now Savings.

Future Cruise Payment (FCP) may be applied to multiple future bookings and may be used towards deposit requirement on their new booking.

Future Cruise Credit (FCC) may be applied to one booking as a savings; is not available to incentive groups, or guests under charter contracts; not combinable with any other savings – including Flex Fares, Best Available Fares (River) and Advance Purchase Savings; non-transferable, non-refundable, and cannot be used in lieu of the deposit requirement on their new booking.

Note: If guests are unable to redeem their Credits by December 31, 2023, they may request a refund of the original cruise fare paid. Please allow a minimum of 90 days from receipt of request for refunds to be processed.

Cruise Cancellations: River Voyages Through December 2020

UPDATED Friday, July 31, 2020 3pm EST

Like all travel enthusiasts, we are eagerly anticipating the day we can return to sailing the world again and welcome our guests back aboard. Unfortunately, the pandemic caused by Covid-19, coupled with differing restrictions regarding entry into the European Union (EU), continues to impact when and where this can happen. Given the continued uncertainty surrounding this global health crisis, it is with regret that we have had to cancel all River voyages aboard Crystal Bach, Crystal Debussy, Crystal Mahler and Crystal Ravel through the remainder of 2020.

We sincerely apologize for this disruption to our guests' travels and invite them to consider rescheduling their cruise with the two options shared here representing added value, choice and flexibility:

  • 2020 to 2021 River Rollover
    Move their current 2020 reservation, including all payments made, to an equivalent sailing during the same time period in 2021, with price protection on the cruise fare and port charges – representing a significant value for them.

OR

  • Reservation Transfer  
    If a guest chooses not to rollover their cruise to a 2021 river sailing, they may transfer their reservation to any Crystal experience (Ocean, River, Yacht or Expedition) embarking through December 31, 2023 at prevailing rates. All monies paid will be transferred to the new reservation.

If any guests do not elect an option by August 14, 2020, we will automatically issue a Future Credit, equal to 100% of the cruise fare paid, valid on any Crystal experience (Ocean, River, Yacht or Expedition) embarking through December 31, 2023 – along with a refund of port charges, taxes and fees paid, and any air and hotel packages booked through Crystal.

While our fleet is paused, the Crystal team has been developing new procedures and policies that will support all public health and regulatory requirements and to ensure our guests’ vacations continue to be not only relaxing and pleasurable but safe and healthy. RIVER ROLLOVER An equivalent sailing is defined as a 2021 voyage on the same river, of the same duration, in the same room category and as listed on our equivalent sailing list. This offer is valid through August 14, 2020.

FUTURE CREDIT is issued as a Future Cruise Payment (FCP) representing the cruise fare paid and may be applied to multiple future bookings and may be used towards deposit requirement on their new booking.

Future Credits are redeemable through December 31, 2023. Once Credits are issued, they are not eligible for a refund.

If a travel advisor or guest does not elect either of the options presented to them in their cancellation notification letter, they may request a refund by August 14, 2020 by visiting  crystalcruises.com/requestrefund  to submit the online form. Please allow a minimum of 90 days from receipt of the request for the refund to be processed.

 

 

 

 

Cruise Cancellations: Expedition Voyages Through May 1, 2021

As many of our guests and partners are aware, the global pandemic caused by Covid-19 has affected many businesses and industries all around the world, including the temporary closure of  MV WERFTEN shipyard where Crystal Endeavor is being built. Therefore, it is with regret that we must cancel our expedition voyages through May 1, 2021. 

We know that our guests, and the entire Crystal Family, have been looking forward to the introduction of our newest ship and we want to sincerely apologize that their travel plans have been impacted by this unprecedented global health crisis.

We are pleased to provide guests booked on these affected voyages with Credits* equal to 125% of the cruise fare paid on fully-paid reservations. For guests who have not fully paid, the credit will then be based on the deposited amount. Credits are valid on any Crystal experience (Ocean, River, Yacht or Expedition) embarking through December 31, 2023 – along with a refund of port charges, taxes and fees paid, and any air and hotel packages booked through Crystal.

We encourage our guests to contact their travel advisor to assist them in selecting their ideal future Crystal cruise. While our fleet is paused, the Crystal team has been developing new procedures and policies that will support all public health and regulatory requirements and to ensure our guests’ vacations continue to be not only relaxing and pleasurable but safe and healthy. Building on our stringent protocols already in place, we recently launched Crystal Clean+ 2.0 – an enhanced level of measures to help safeguard the well-being of our guests and crew. Each protocol will be continually evaluated as new information becomes available.

Additionally, the inherent design of Crystal ships maximizes personal and public space, offering plenty of options for those who choose to keep a healthy distance during their voyage. All Crystal ships across the fleet including Ocean, River, Yacht and Expedition offer nearly double the space per person than ships of a similar size, which is among the highest space ratios in the industry and will be further augmented through the new measures we will be implementing. Crystal Endeavor and Crystal’s River ships feature all-suite, all-balcony suites and our two Ocean ships feature most staterooms with private verandas for fresh airflow. Please know that our guests’ and crews’ safety is our number one priority and we will resume service only when our expert team as well as global health and government authorities indicate that it is safe to do so.

We thank our guests for their continued patience and understanding as we navigate this unprecedented situation. Like our guests, we are eagerly awaiting the day when we can return to sailing the world. When that time comes, we look forward to welcoming our guests aboard and delivering the Crystal Experience they have come to know and love.

Announced March 13th

Crystal Cruises has announced it’s canceling “Crystal River Cruises’ voyages scheduled to embark from March 26 to April 11 as well as Crystal Esprit’s April 10 sailing that fall into this timeframe.” The suspension is set for 30-days and does not impact ocean vessels. Both Crystal Serenity and Crystal Symphony are set to recommence sailing on April 21 and May 8 respectively.

Guests on affected sailings will have the choice of:

  • A 100% refund of cruise fare, port charges, taxes, and fees paid, and any air and hotel packages booked through Crystal.  

OR

  • A Future Cruise Credit* equal to 125% of their cruise fare paid – valid on any Crystal experience (Ocean, River, Yacht or Expedition) embarking through December 31, 2022 - along with a refund of port charges, taxes, and fees, and air and hotel packages booked through Crystal.

If guests are unable to redeem the future cruise credit by December 31, 2022, they may request a refund of the original cruise fare paid. 

Announced March 11th

Crystal Cruises’ utmost priority is the health, safety and security of their guests and crew. Crystal has been monitoring the evolving situation as it relates to the COVID-19 and continue to work closely with global public health professionals and relevant governments around the world on the latest developments.

Crystal rigorously monitors health conditions on board, and have a coordinated outbreak response plan that includes extensive outbreak prevention protocols. Their onboard medical facilities and medical professionals are available around the clock, 24/7, to provide initial medical care in the event of illness and to help prevent disease transmission. 

COVID-19 TRAVEL AND HEALTH PROTOCOLS

Preventive measures that Crystal has adopted across their ocean and yacht fleet include:

  • CLIA Members, including Crystal, are to deny boarding to all persons (guests and crew) who have travelled from or transited via airports in South Korea, Iran, China, including Hong Kong and Macau, as well as the recent addition of Italy and Japan.
  • Denying boarding to all persons (guests and crew) who, within 14 days before embarkation, have had close contact with, or helped care for, anyone suspected or diagnosed as having COVID-19, or who is currently subject to health monitoring for possible exposure to COVID-19.
  • Conducting preboarding screening, including temperature checks for all persons (guests and crew), and denying boarding to any person (guests and crew) who has a confirmed temperature of 100.4 F/38 C or greater.
  • Updated their pre-boarding health questionnaires for both guests and crew to include questions concerning COVID-19.
  • Providing initial medical support as needed to any persons (guests and crew) exhibiting symptoms of suspected COVID-19.
  • Cancelled non-essential day visits to the ships when they are in port.
  • Activated advanced cleaning protocols on board and for all port, land and tour operators to sanitize all terminal areas as well as vehicles transporting our guests.

Guests should be aware that signs and symptoms of the new respiratory virus begin within 14 days of exposure and include fever (≥38 C/100.4 F) or feverishness, chills, cough, and difficulty breathing.  As with all respiratory illnesses, travelers can reduce the risk of infection by exercising the following routine precautions:

  • Wash your hands often with soap and water for 20 seconds, and help young children do the same. Where soap and water are not available, use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer
  • Cover your nose and mouth when you cough or sneeze. If a tissue is not immediately available, cough or sneeze into your upper arm.
  • All air-conditioning filters are cleaned and disinfected on each embarkation day before rooming takes place.
  • Avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth with unwashed hands.
  • Avoid personal contact, such as sharing cups or eating utensils, with sick people.

Please be aware that due to the rapidly changing situation, travelers may have to undergo additional health screenings by local health officials before disembarkation at any of the ports Crystal ships visit.

 

Announced March 9th

Effective immediately and until further notice, Crystal has established a temporary cancellation policy to provide more flexibility for our guests. This temporary policy is applicable to all Crystal experiences and replaces the standard cancellation policy of 120 days or earlier. Guests may cancel up to 7 days prior to first service and receive a 100% credit for cruise fare monies paid that may be redeemed on any future voyage through the end of 2022. 

EW REDUCED DEPOSIT FOR NEW BOOKINGS FOR 2020 VOYAGES

For all new bookings, Crystal has established a new reduced deposit policy for Crystal voyages, which was previously 25% of the cruise fare. New reduced deposit amounts are:

Crystal Cruises:

  • $100 per person for cruises of up to 13 nights;
  • $200 per person for cruises of 14-21 nights;
  • $500 per person for cruises of 22 days or longer.

Crystal River Cruises, Crystal Yacht Cruises and Crystal Expedition Cruises:

  • $500 per person for all voyages.

NEW FINAL PAYMENT POLICY FOR EXISTING AND NEW BOOKINGS FOR 2020 VOYAGES

For all existing and new bookings for all Crystal experiences, final payment will be reduced from 120 days or earlier to 90 days prior to first service.

*Terms and Conditions below:

  • Standard cancellation penalties will apply to insurance and Personal Select Air.
  • Pre and post packages will mirror the updated cancellation penalties.
  • Port charges, taxes, and fees paid will be refunded.
  • Credit may be applied to new bookings or existing bookings that have not been final paid.  
  • Credit may not be used for initial deposit, split over multiple bookings and there is no refund value.
  • Credit must be applied by 12/31/2020 to a booking departing by the end of 2022.  
  • Credit will be posted to the guests' profile within 30 days.
  • New deposit, final payment and Crystal cancellation policies do not apply to charters.

Announced March 5th

For cancellations made now through April 30, 2020, the following applies:

  • For cancellations made on or before 31 days prior to departure date, the applicable cancellation penalty will be issued in the form of a future cruise payment valid on Ocean, River, Yacht and Expedition voyages embarking on or before December 31, 2021.
  • These new cancellation guidelines apply only to active bookings and new bookings made prior to April 30, 2020 and is not retroactive to any reservations cancelled prior to March 4, 2020.
  • Future cruise payment may not be applied to existing bookings that have already been paid in full and may not be split across multiple bookings.
  • If a cancellation is made, there is no further action to be taken by the guest or travel partner. The future cruise payment will automatically be posted to the guest profile.
  • Future cruise payment is based only on the value of cruise fare paid and cannot be transferred, refunded and has no cash value.
  • Standard cancellation policies apply to add-ons such as air, hotel and insurance
  • If a cancellation is made 30 days or less prior to departure date, standard cancellation penalties apply with no future cruise payment and no refund of any amount.
