Norwegian Cruise Line Policy—As of 4/6/21

NEW!—Announced Apr 6th

In conjunction with our return to service announcement, we have extended our voluntary temporary suspension through August 31, 2021 for the following ships; Norwegian Breakaway, Dawn, Escape, Getaway, Sky, Spirit, Star and Sun. In addition, Norwegian Epic through Sept. 1; and Norwegian Pearl through Nov. 7, 2021 have also been canceled.

Norwegian Joy, Norwegian Jade and Norwegian Gem now boast new homeports in Greece and the Caribbean for three new and exciting itineraries sailing in July.

Guests who had an active reservation on a suspended cruise will automatically receive a refund of their cruise fare in the original form of payment for the amount paid by June 1.

Additionally, a 10% off coupon will be automatically added to the guest's account, if the guest has not already received one for a previously cancelled sailing or an account that currently has a 10% coupon.

For affected reservations paid via a previously issued Future Cruise Credit, the full value of the FCC used will be re-applied to the guest’s Latitudes account within 7 days. This is done automatically, and no further action is required on the guest or travel advisor’s part.

You can learn more about booking a cruise with your FCC's here.

2021 Alaska Cruises

Following The Government of Canada’s Interim Order which calls for the suspension of passenger cruising in Canadian waters through February 2022, we will temporarily halt the acceptance of bookings for our 2021 Alaska season. At this time we have not cancelled our entire 2021 Alaska season and are currently exploring several initiatives that may allow such cruises to continue.

We are working through all available options as quickly as possible, and given the fluidity of the current environment, we will also continue to work with the Canadian government to amend the current suspension. We will continue to keep all travel partners and guests updated as the situation progresses, and we thank them for their patience.

Announced Feb 16th

On October 30, 2020, the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention issued the Framework for Conditional Sailing Order, a roadmap for the steps the CDC will require for resumption of cruise voyages in the U.S. We are closely reviewing the order and continue to partner with global and domestic authorities, including the CDC, to chart a path forward.

We have extended our voluntary temporary suspension of all voyages through May 2021.

We are committed to taking all appropriate steps and actions to combat the spread of COVID-19 and are working closely and in partnership with local, state, federal and global agencies. While this may result in additional future changes, please know our teams are working around the clock to do what is right by our guests and travel partners. We continue to monitor this situation closely and will provide additional updates as they are available.

Announced March 13th

Norwegian Cruise Line today announced a voluntary suspension of all cruise voyages embarking between March 13 and April 11, 2020 for its three cruise brands.  The temporary suspension is aimed at contributing to efforts around the globe to contain the spread of the COVID-19 coronavirus.  This measure is taken in an abundance of caution and the Company has not experienced any confirmed cases of COVID-19 across its 28-ship fleet.

“The safety, security and well-being of our guests and crew is our highest priority.  With the COVID-19 coronavirus impacting communities around the globe, we have enacted a voluntary temporary suspension of cruise voyages across our brands effective immediately,” said Frank Del Rio, president and chief executive officer of Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings Ltd. “We understand the inconvenience that this disruption may cause our guests and travel partners during these quickly evolving and challenging times, and we appreciate their understanding as we partner with local, state, federal and global agencies to combat the spread of COVID-19.”

Guests on voyages that are underway will conclude and guests will be disembarked as soon as possible and assisted with travel arrangements.

Guests who are currently booked on voyages with embarkation dates from March 13 to April 11, 2020 on Norwegian Cruise Line, Oceania Cruises or Regent Seven Seas Cruises are asked to contact their travel agent or the cruise line for more information. All guests on impacted voyages will receive a 125% refund of the fare paid in the form of a future cruise credit, which can be applied toward any future cruise through December 31, 2022. For guests who wish to not avail themselves of the 125% future cruise credit, a 100% refund of the fare paid will be reimbursed to the original form of payment within 90 days of guests’ request. Travel partner commissions on canceled cruises will be protected as per normal policy.

Announced March 11th

Please know that Norwegian Cruise Line is aware of the latest developments and will share their most updated policy shortly. Thank you for your patience and understanding as we navigate this evolving situation. We will continue to do the best we can to provide you and all our guests with Peace of Mind through this fluid period.

The safety, security and well-being of Norwegian's guests and crew is their number one priority. It has implemented several strict preventative measures due to growing concerns regarding COVID-19 infections. It will continue to consult with The World Health Organization (WHO) and the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and take additional preventative actions as deemed necessary.

Norwegian Cruise Line apologizes for the inconvenience to any guests affected by these new measures which have been put in place to ensure the safety, health and well-being of all it's guests and crew members.

Preventative Measures To Ensure Your Safety

Policies currently in place, which are subject to change, include the following:

All embarking guests will be asked to complete and submit a Pre-Embarkation Public Health Questionnaire certifying their current health status and recent travel history. In addition, all embarking guests and crew will be administered a non-touch fever temperature check.

Denial of boarding will occur in the following cases:

  • Guests who have traveled from, visited or transited via airports in China, Hong Kong, Macau, South Korea, Iran, or Italy within 30 days of their voyage embarkation, regardless of nationality. Travel companions of these guests who share the same stateroom will also be denied boarding.
  • Guests who in the last 30 days have come into known direct contact with anyone who has traveled from, visited or transited via airports in China, Hong Kong, Macau, South Korea, Iran, or Italy. Travel companions of these guests who share the same stateroom will also be denied boarding.
  • Any guest with a temperature detected at or above 100.4F / 38C.
  • All persons who, within 30 days prior to embarkation, have had contact with, or helped care for, anyone suspected or diagnosed as having COVID-19, or who are currently subject to health monitoring for possible exposure to COVID-19
  • All persons who have reported on the Pre-Embarkation Public Health Questionnaire or who appear symptomatic, are feeling unwell, are exhibiting flu-like symptoms or exhibit difficulty breathing.

Guests who are denied boarding will be issued a refund for monies paid for their cruise- only expenditures in the form of a 100% future cruise credit.

Travel Restrictions for Certain Passport Holders

Certain countries have put into place additional restrictions for port entry and passenger disembarkation. These often include denying entry to certain passport holders or requiring additional medical documentation or screenings. Guests with certain passports and who are on voyages impacted by port restrictions will be notified prior to sailing.

What to Expect During Your Cruise

Additional Precautionary Measures: While on board, any persons who exhibit symptoms of any respiratory illness, flu-like symptoms, cough or a fever above 100.4F/38C will be subject to additional screening at our onboard Medical Center and may be subject to potential quarantine and disembarkation.

Along with the aforementioned policies Norwegian has implemented additional cleaning and disinfection protocols on board all of our ships. These protocols will be strictly enforced in addition to our already rigorous sanitization standards in place.

The above measures will remain in effect until further notice and are subject to change at any time as Norwegian evaluates the situation and continue to consult with local health authorities as well as the WHO and the CDC.

In addition to the aforementioned protocols, Norwegian has cancelled or redeployed a number of sailings previously operating in areas of high risk. It maintains the flexibility to alter itineraries as needed to avoid these areas and will continue to closely monitor the areas in which it operates and take appropriate action as necessary.
